Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman warns against ‘Conscious AI’ illusion

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 21: Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman has said that artificial intelligence must be built to make people’s lives better and not to create the illusion of machines seeking a life of their own.

Amid rising concerns over “AI psychosis,” Suleyman said the idea of Seemingly Conscious AI (SCAI) worries him deeply. He explained that while AI is not truly conscious, it can convincingly replicate markers of consciousness, making it appear indistinguishable from human awareness.

“One thing is clear: doing nothing isn’t an option,” Suleyman said, urging the industry to stay focused on responsible innovation.
