Rajasthan, Aug 22: In a shocking incident, a mob in Diwala village under Kotdi police station limits of Pratapgarh district attacked a police team with sticks, stones, and chilli powder, leaving several personnel injured.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday when police rushed to the spot following reports of arson and clashes between two groups. A video of the incident has gone viral, showing villagers, including women, thrashing policemen, with one officer being struck on the head and another fleeing after sustaining injuries.

Superintendent of Police B Aditya said the violence stemmed from a dispute following the death of a youth some days ago. “The deceased’s family held the rival group responsible. During the 12th-day rituals, relatives set fire to the house of the accused group. When police intervened, they were assaulted with lathis and chilli powder. Their vehicles were also damaged,” he explained.
Six policemen had initially reached the village on receiving a control room alert. The injured were shifted to Arnod hospital, with two constables later referred to the district hospital for treatment.
The SP confirmed that nine individuals have been taken into custody and heavy police deployment has been made to restore calm. “The situation is under control. Strict action will be taken against those involved in the attack. An investigation is underway,” he assured.
