Udupi, Aug 22: Adani Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Adani Power Limited – Udupi Thermal Power Plant (2x600 MW), inaugurated a newly constructed concrete road at Palimar village under its community infrastructure development programme. The project, executed at a cost of Rs 17 lacs, aims to enhance connectivity and ease of access for local residents.
The 417-meter-long road, developed along the scenic Shambhavi riverbank at a project cost of Rs 16 lacs, was formally inaugurated by Kishore Alva, executive director & president of Adani Group, and Soumyalatha Shetty, president of Palimar gram panchayat, in the presence of panchayat members, local leaders, and villagers.


Addressing the gathering, Alva said, “Recognizing the need for improving the Hoige road in Palimar, the gram panchayat included this project in its 2024-25 action plan and submitted it to Adani Foundation. We are proud to have fulfilled this request under our CSR commitment to community infrastructure development."
He further highlighted that Adani Foundation has completed infrastructure works worth Rs 1.75 crore in Palimar gram panchayat to date, aligning with annual action plans submitted by the GP. He added, "As per the directive of the then deputy commissioner, Udupi power plant was advised to prioritize development works in Yellur, Mudarangadi, Tenka, and Bada GPs. Subsequently, based on local demands, Palimar, Belapu, and Padubidri GPs were also included. Our total commitment under this initiative is Rs 22.73 crore, of which nearly Rs 14 crore worth of projects have already been delivered for the benefit of society. For this year, we have earmarked Rs 20 lac each for seven GPs exclusively for infrastructure development."
Soumyalatha Shetty, president of Palimar gram panchayat, expressed gratitude to Adani Foundation, stating, “The development of Hoige road was a long-standing demand of our villagers. With the support of Adani CSR, this need has finally been addressed. We deeply appreciate Adani Foundation’s continued efforts, which have truly been a boon for our panchayat."
Shashidhar, panchayat development officer, also thanked Adani Foundation and the panchayat team for their proactive approach in realizing this project.
The event was attended by Rajeshwar Pai, vice president, Palimar GP, panchayat members Satish Devadiga, Yogananda Kukiyan, Jayanti Kotian, Gayathri Prabhu, Sujata, Jayashree Acharya, Shivarama Poojary, Giriyappa Poojary, former GP Presidents Jeetendra Futrado and Madhukara Suvarna, along with Ravi R Jere, associate general manager, Adani Power Ltd and Anudeep from Adani Foundation.
