Melbourne, Feb 5: Rain updates from MCG, first match of the CB series between India and Australia

Update 11:00 AM IST, 4:25 PM Local: Jesse Hogan has tweeted with more bad news. Another shower. Heavy covers return. There goes the 4.37 pm restart.

The ground staff are doing their best to clear the water from the covers. There is some more rain expected though. There was also a slight drizzle.

Another tweet from Jesse Hogan: Play due to restart at 4.37 PM local, which is 11:10 AM IST, with match reduced to 46 overs per side. Powerplays will be affected too.

Update 10:45 AM IST, 4:10 PM Local: Jesse Hogan has tweeted saying: Covers coming off again. Rain stopped but still dark overhead.


Update 10:35 AM IST, 4:00 PM Local: Scratch that previous update. Cricket Australia has tweeted saying that the rain continues here in Melbourne. Hopefully play will resume soon so we can have a good contest.

Update 10:25 AM IST, 3:50 PM Local: MCG tweets that play might recommence at 4.00pm AEDST. Match reduced to 49 overs. Updated break and session times to come.
Update 10:15 AM IST, 3:40 PM Local : The rain had stopped a short while back. However, the drizzle has again started and the covers are coming back on.

Update 10:05 AM IST, 3:30 PM Local: The covers are still on at the MCG. The rain seems to have stopped though.

* In Nuetral countries, out of 24 matches played, India won 9 matches, Australia winning 12. Three without result.
