Wardha, Aug 22: In a shocking twist to a missing persons case, police in Maharashtra’s Wardha district discovered the body of a woman buried near her house, while her husband—who had initially reported her missing—has himself gone absconding.

A few days ago, the husband filed a missing report of his wife at the Hinganghat police station. However, when officers tried to contact him for further inquiry, his phone remained switched off. This prompted the police to visit his residence for investigation.

At the house, officers noticed a foul smell in the surroundings. On closer inspection, they found naphthalene balls scattered on the ground. The soil beneath appeared freshly dug, raising suspicions. When the area was excavated, police recovered the woman’s body, stuffed in a sack and buried in a pit.

The grim discovery has led investigators to launch a fresh probe, with efforts now underway to trace the absconding husband.

Police officials said forensic examination is being carried out, and further investigation is in progress.
