Beltangady, Aug 23: The case of missing MBBS student ‘Ananya Bhat’, which had shocked the entire state, has taken a dramatic twist. Sujatha Bhat, who had filed a complaint claiming her daughter was missing, has now confessed that she never had a daughter named Ananya.
In an interview given to a YouTube channel, Sujatha revealed that the story was fabricated under provocation from a few individuals, citing a dispute over ancestral property as the reason behind her false claims.

Sujatha admitted, “It is not true that Ananya Bhat is my daughter. I never had a daughter by that name.” She explained that she created the false narrative to question the transfer of her ancestral property and family deity to others without her consent. She further alleged that Girish Mattannavar and Jayanth T were the ones who advised her to weave such a story.
“My aim was only to question how my grandfather’s property was transferred without my signature. For that, I had to create a fictional daughter. Even the photographs released were fake,” she confessed.
Clarifying further, Sujatha stated that she was not lured by money and had not done this for financial gain. “What hurt me was that my family deity was handed over to another community, and I wanted to claim my rightful share in the property. I never imagined this matter would grow so big and damage my reputation,” she said regretfully.
Accepting that the incident hurt the sentiments of devotees of Dharmasthala and the people of Karnataka, Sujatha said, “I made a mistake. I sincerely apologise to the people of the state and to the devotees of Dharmasthala. I was misled by some people and committed this blunder. Please forgive me and let this matter end here.”
Ultimately, what began as a family property dispute spread across the state as a false news story, misusing public sympathy. With Sujatha Bhat’s confession, the case has now come to a dramatic close.
