Mangaluru, Aug 23: A J Institute of Management (AJIM), a premier management institute under the aegis of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, successfully organised a one-day international conference on 'Transforming management paradigms: AI for a dynamic business world' in hybrid mode at its campus.
The conference, held on Friday, August 22, and brought together academicians, industry leaders, researchers, and students from across the globe to deliberate on the impact of Artificial Intelligence in reshaping business and management practices.
The inaugural programme commenced with the invocation, followed by the welcome address and guest introduction by Prof Roshella D’costa, conference convener.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed by Durgadas Shetty, co-founder & CTO, Primsophic, Mangaluru. The prelude was delivered by Dr Nishkrati Varshney, conference convener, setting the context for the day’s deliberations.












Dr Swapna Shetty J, director, AJIM, delivered the Initial Remarks, wherein she emphasised the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence in redefining business landscapes and highlighted the importance of continuous learning and adaptability for future managers.
The presidential remarks were given by Dr T Jayaprakash Rao, executive director, AJIM, who spoke on the importance of AI in driving innovation and shaping the future of business and management practices.
The focal point of the inaugural session was the keynote address by Durgadas Shetty, who shared valuable insights on AI’s real-world applications, entrepreneurial challenges, and its transformative potential across industries.
The inaugural concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Mahesh P G, assistant professor. Prof Deeksha Rao, assistant professor, adeptly compered the inaugural programme.
The conference featured three technical sessions by eminent speakers: Prof Gang Li, Deakin University, Australia spoke on the theme "Surf the Wave of Big Data in Tourism & Hospitality". Petricia D’Lima, IBM, USA, delivered seminar on "Driving marketing innovation with AI" and Abhinaya Kamath, Capgemini, UK delivered seminar on "AI-driven talent and workforce transformation".
The major highlights of the conference was the paper presentation sessions, which drew an overwhelming response with 62 research papers presented by participants from over 20 institutions. In this forum, Ayishah Azzah, along with co-authors Mohammed Ahshaan Kamil and Mohammed Akeef Akbar, students of Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mangaluru, won the best paper presentation award in the student category for their research paper titled “Beyond the screen: the impact of AI on teacher creativity and traditional resources.”
The sessions featured scholarly work across a wide spectrum of disciplines—including finance, marketing, human resources, and healthcare—bringing forth innovative insights into the adoption of artificial intelligence.
The valedictory programme began with the welcome and introduction of guest by Dr Swapna Shetty J, director, AJIM, followed by a brief report on the conference by Prof K Deepak Rao, conference advisor.
The valedictory address was delivered by CA Anwesh Shetty, managing partner, Anwesh Shetty chartered accountants, Mangaluru, who emphasised the growing importance of AI-driven skills in shaping the workforce of the future. This was followed by the presidential remarks by Dr T Jayaprakash Rao, executive director, AJIM.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Soumya Shetty, conference convener. Dr Slima Pinto, assistant professor, seamlessly anchored the valedictory programme.
