Christ King School’s Shagun Varma selected for national volleyball camp

Karkala, Aug 25: Shagun S Varma Hegde, a class 9 student of Christ King English Medium High School, has been selected for the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) national volleyball training camp in the under-15 girls’ category.

Players from across districts of Karnataka participated in the selection process, out of which only eight players were chosen. Shagun stands out as the only player from Udupi district to secure a place in the state team.

The national-level selection trials will be held in Pune, Maharashtra, where the final squad to represent India will be chosen. The selected national team will go on to participate in the upcoming International Volleyball Championship to be held in Shangluo, China.

Shagun, who hails from Kallotte, is the daughter of Sandesh Varma and Shrutiraj.
