Hyderabad, Aug 26: In a major crackdown on drug abuse, Cyberabad Police on Monday busted a rave party at Rajeshwari Nilayam service apartment in Kondapur on the city’s outskirts, arresting six people, including businessmen, a homemaker, a software engineer, and an engineering student.

The raid was carried out by Cyberabad Police in coordination with Eagle, Telangana’s elite anti-narcotics unit. Officers seized 20 grams of cocaine, 8 ecstasy pills (20 grams), and 3 grams of MDMA.

Madhapur DCP G. Vineeth confirmed the arrest of two peddlers, a transporter, and three consumers. Among those arrested was 28-year-old Teja, a cloud kitchen business owner, described as the mastermind. Police said he sourced cocaine from Rahul alias Sonu, a Bengaluru-based supplier currently absconding.

Others arrested include Vikram, a poultry farm businessman accused of peddling; 41-year-old homemaker Neelima; 36-year-old wine shop owner Prashanth Reddy; 31-year-old software engineer Bhargav; and 20-year-old engineering student Chandan, who acted as transporter.

According to police, Teja procured cocaine disguised as glutathione “skin care injections” via a courier service in Rajahmundry. The drugs were then circulated at parties in Hyderabad, farmhouses, and even in Goa. “They are procuring drugs from Rahul, getting them from Rajahmundry and Goa, and are organising rave parties in Hyderabad. Teja even organised a new year party in Goa,” DCP Vineeth said.

Drug tests confirmed that Neelima had consumed three types of narcotics, while Teja tested positive for five. The other two consumers were also habitual users, though Chandan tested negative.

Police said the raid was part of an intensified drive to curb the rising menace of rave parties and drug trafficking in Hyderabad. A manhunt is on to nab supplier Rahul.
