Farrukhabad, Aug 26: An eight-year-old speech and hearing-impaired girl narrowly escaped an attempted sexual assault in Kamalganj area of Farrukhabad on Monday evening.
Police said the accused, a middle-aged man from a neighbouring village, was caught on the spot by the victim’s father. The child’s parents had reportedly gone out searching for a missing buffalo, and upon returning home, her father found the man attempting to assault his daughter.
He immediately raised an alarm and alerted UP-112. A police team reached the spot and took the accused into custody.
Circle Officer of Amritpur, Sanjay Verma, confirmed the arrest and said the girl was sent for medical examination at the community health centre. “The accused is being interrogated and an FIR has been registered,” he said.
