Khargone, Aug 26: In a shocking case of dowry-related domestic abuse, a 23-year-old woman was branded with a hot knife and brutally thrashed by her husband in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
The victim, Khushboo Pipaliya, sustained severe burn injuries after her husband Dilip Pipaliya allegedly heated a knife on a gas stove and pressed it against her body. He then assaulted her until her family members intervened and rescued her.

Her brother rushed to the house after being alerted and shifted her to hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Speaking to reporters, Khushboo accused her husband of repeatedly beating her and demanding dowry. “He never liked me since our marriage. He often beat me and now tortured me like this,” she said.
Her father too alleged that his son-in-law had been harassing her for dowry for months. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
The shocking incident comes close on the heels of a gruesome dowry murder in Noida, where 26-year-old Nikki Bhati was allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws last week after years of abuse.
Despite being illegal, dowry-related harassment continues to plague many households in India, often ending in tragic consequences.
