Amroha, Aug 27: In yet another chilling case of dowry violence, a 32-year-old woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband, a serving police constable, and his family in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh.
The victim, identified as Parul, suffered severe burn injuries and has been referred to Delhi in critical condition. The incident occurred in Narangpur village, where her husband Devendra, recently transferred from Rampur to Bareilly, along with relatives, allegedly attempted to burn her alive after dowry demands went unmet.

Parul’s brother lodged a complaint naming six accused — Devendra, his mother, and four relatives identified as Sonu, Gajesh, Jitendra, and Santosh. Police have registered a case under charges of domestic violence and attempted murder. All accused are currently absconding, and search operations are underway.
Parul married Devendra 13 years ago. The couple has twin children.
The case comes close on the heels of the brutal killing of Nikki Bhati in Greater Noida, where she too was allegedly set ablaze by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands.
