Two terrorists gunned down in foiled infiltration bid at LoC in Bandipora

Srinagar, Aug 28: Security forces on Thursday foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector of Bandipora district, killing two terrorists in the encounter, the Army said.

According to officials, the operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police following specific intelligence inputs about possible infiltration.

“Alert troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC. On being challenged, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. The soldiers retaliated effectively, neutralising two terrorists,” the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps stated in a post on X.

The Army confirmed that the operation is still underway in the rugged Gurez sector. Search operations have been intensified to rule out the presence of more infiltrators attempting to cross from across the border.

This comes amid heightened security measures in the Valley, with forces maintaining a strict vigil to prevent infiltration bids from across the LoC as Pakistan-based groups attempt to push militants into Jammu and Kashmir.
