Mangaluru, Aug 29: A major pothole-ridden stretch has developed on Airport Road in the Maravoor area of Mangaluru, posing a serious threat to motorists and commuters. This stretch serves as a vital link to Mangaluru International Airport and witnesses heavy movement of vehicles, including public transport and emergency services.
The damaged section not only disrupts smooth travel but also significantly increases the risk of accidents, especially during rainy conditions or low visibility. Residents stress that urgent repairs are needed to ensure road safety and prevent further deterioration.

Despite the frequent use of the airport road by elected representatives, politicians, and engineers, no steps have been taken to address its worsening condition. With the ongoing heavy rains in Mangaluru, existing potholes have deepened, creating even greater hazards for motorists.
The absence of proper street lighting adds to the danger. At night, the potholes become nearly invisible, heightening the risk of serious accidents.
Local residents allege that repair work is undertaken promptly only when a VVIP is scheduled to visit the district. On regular days, however, motorists are forced to navigate the pothole-ridden stretch, risking both vehicle damage and personal injury.
