Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: In a shocking case of double life, Bhubaneswar police have arrested a YouTuber who preached about honesty and a crime-free lifestyle online, but secretly turned into a thief at night.

The accused, identified as Manoj Singh, ran a motivational channel called “Change Your Life”, where he regularly posted videos urging people to live with discipline and integrity. However, police revealed that Singh was a habitual burglar with more than 10 cases already registered against him.

On August 14, he allegedly looted a house under Bharatpur police station limits, stealing 200 grams of gold and Rs 5 lac in cash. After keeping him under watch for a week, police arrested him from Khandagiri Bari, recovering stolen gold and Rs 1 lakh in cash.

According to residents, Singh targeted houses when owners were away. “Though he is an expert burglar and has at least 10 theft cases pending against him, he gave motivational talks during his free time and earned good views,” Police Commissioner S Dev Dutta Singh said.

Police stated that Singh preferred breaking into locked standalone houses during the day. Following a complaint from a couple whose house was robbed, the investigation led to his arrest. Officials have now cautioned the public against blindly trusting online personalities.
