Mathura, Aug 31: A man from Madhya Pradesh has accused the head priest of a Vrindavan-based ashram of sexually assaulting him and blackmailing him with a video of the act, police said on Saturday.

According to the complaint, the victim alleged that on November 22, 2022, while staying at the ashram, the ‘mahant’ mixed intoxicants in the prasad before sexually assaulting him. He further claimed that he was threatened with a video of the act, and beaten up when he resisted, before managing to escape to his home.

The man approached the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Agra range, who directed him to meet the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mathura. SSP has now asked Circle Officer (Sadar) Sandeep Kumar Singh to investigate and submit a report.

“The allegations are very serious. Since the incident is said to have taken place nearly three years ago, we are investigating the matter first,” Singh said.
