Udupi, Sep 1: Alevur Padmanabha Kodancha (89), senior trustee of the Udupi Consumer Forum, passed away on August 31 at his daughter’s residence in Kollegala. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
Kodancha served in Corporation Bank for nearly 39 years, retiring as general manager. After retirement, he devoted almost three decades to the Udupi Consumer Forum, where he guided thousands of distressed consumers. He organised workshops and seminars, published consumer-awareness booklets, and for more than a decade wrote a widely read Q&A column on consumer issues in the forum’s publication.

He was featured in a consumer awareness programme on Doordarshan and contributed actively to the Senior Citizens’ Forum, Postal Advisory Committee, and Pavan Parishat. In February 2025, he was conferred the Sevabhooshana award by Udupi Yakshagana Kalaranga.
The Udupi Consumer Forum has expressed condolences to the bereaved family, remembering his lifelong dedication to consumer rights and social causes.
