Sachin Pilot slams Centre, EC over vote theft, seeks probe

Jaipur, Sep 2: Congress leader Sachin Pilot launched a fresh attack on the Union government and the Election Commission on Tuesday, alleging electoral manipulation and vowing that "vote theft will not be tolerated at any cost." Speaking from his hometown Mohangarh in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, Pilot emphasized that the Congress is meticulously reviewing every Lok Sabha constituency in the state following the 2024 elections.

Referring to the Jaipur Rural seat, where BJP’s Rao Rajendra Singh narrowly defeated Congress candidate Anil Chopra by just 1,615 votes, Pilot said irregularities had already been flagged and more issues are now surfacing. “It is now the moral responsibility of the Election Commission to investigate and clear public doubts,” he said.

He criticised the Commission’s approach, likening it to a police station refusing to register an FIR without an affidavit. “That’s what the EC feels like right now,” he remarked, accusing it of aligning itself with the ruling party rather than protecting democratic integrity.

Highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement promising to “explode a bomb” on the issue, Pilot said that revelations would soon expose the full truth. “This is not about winning or losing. This is about defending democracy,” he asserted.

He also recalled the past commitment of poll officials who ventured into deserts and forests to collect votes, contrasting it with today’s environment where “votes are being manipulated.”

Pilot reaffirmed that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress will continue raising this issue nationally and push for electoral transparency, with growing public support behind their demand.
