Mangaluru, Sep 3: Grandparents Day is a special occasion dedicated to honour and celebrate the important role they play in families and communities.

It emphasizes the importance of intergenerational connections and the positive impact of grandparents on the lives of their grandchildren.

Lourdes Central School Kindergarten celebrated grandparents’ day on September 2 at Bejai church hall with zeal and enthusiasm. The dignitaries of the day were Dr John Baptist Saldanha, manager LCS, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, principal LCS. Chief guest George D’Souza, retd employee, Bank of Baroda and Leena D’Souza, and vice principal Anitha Thomas.

The day commenced with an engaging ice-breaking session led by Andrea and Joshna. The session featured an energizer and a series of fun-filled games that kept the audience thoroughly engaged. The grandparents in attendance participated enthusiastically, contributing to the lively atmosphere. Winners of the various activities were felicitated by the dignitaries, adding a celebratory touch to the event.

The formal programme began with an entry of dignitaries which was followed by a welcome dance, and also invoking God's blessings through a prayer song. Students of play school, pre KG KG1 and KG2 mesmerised the grandparents with their heart touching performances through dance drama, singing, and action song.

The highlight of the show was the performance by the grandparents and grandchildren. Their coordination and enthusiasm created a touching moment that was met with a thunderous applause from the audience.

Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira introduced the chief guest to the gathering, which was followed by the felicitation ceremony.

The chief guest had all appreciation for the little ones for their fantastic performance and congratulated the school for conducting such programmes. He said it's a beautiful way to instil love and respect towards the older generation.

President Dr John Baptist Saldanha appreciated the grandparents for coming in such large numbers and spending quality time with their grandchildren. His valuable words inspired everyone present. He encouraged the grandparents to speak kindly and perform good deeds in front of their grandchildren, so that they grow up following the path of kindness, empathy, and respect.

He also emphasized the important role grandparents play in shaping the values and character of the younger generation through everyday actions and examples.

It was a child-oriented programme which concluded with a vote of thanks followed by a photo session and school anthem.

As a token of gratitude all the grandparents were given a take away which made their day complete.
