Thane, Sep 5: Police in Thane cracked a burglary case within eight hours, arresting a 29-year-old Navi Mumbai woman who allegedly robbed her sister’s house in Mumbra and decamped with valuables worth Rs 24.42 lac.

According to Senior Inspector Anil Shinde of Mumbra Police Station, the complainant had locked her flat and gone to visit her mother on August 31, only to return and find her gold jewellery and cash missing. Since there was no forced entry, police suspected involvement of someone close to the family.

Based on technical surveillance, mobile tracking, and CCTV footage, investigators zeroed in on the accused. When confronted, she initially tried to mislead police but later confessed to the crime, the officer said.

The accused has been booked and further investigation is underway.
