Mumbai (RBI), Sep 05: The founder, Shri Tonse Madhava Ananth Pai (1898 -1979) was an Indian physician, educationist, banker, and philanthropist who pivotally transformed Manipal into a central educational hub. Besides education, Pai co-founded Syndicate Bank in Udupi, Karnataka, alongside his brother Upendra Ananth Pai.
In recognition of his contributions, the Indian government honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1972. A commemorative stamp was issued in his name in 1999. TAPMI organises every year, DISHA, an Annual Conclave which brings together top corporate leaders, industry experts, along with the Institute's bright management students in a series of insightful panel discussions, keynote addresses, workshops, and interactive sessions - covering diverse domains such as marketing, finance, operations, human resources, analytics, and strategy!







The theme for DISHA 2025, business conclave, was ““Disrupt design dominate: Business strategy in the age og AI.” Under the leadership of Prof Rajeev Kumra - director. Various speakers were invited across the country which included one of our Mangalorean banker Sunil Lobo who is the Head of Corporate Banking for Doha Bank India.
Sunil Lobo delivered his address on the “Banking in a Borderless World and Impact of Artificial Intelligence” to the MBA students. He has been in the banking sector for around 3 decades and was earlier the Director – Corporate for BNP Paribas Bank in India.
He also believes in giving back to society and was the youngest President of Bombay YMCA in its 150-year-old history. Currently he is the President of KCA, Mumbai.
Sunil has his roots in Beltangady, Mangalore and Daijiworld is proud of his achievements and wishes him the very best and to continue to keep our Mangalorean flag flying high.
