Mangaluru, Sep 5: Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, celebrated Teachers' Day with Guru Vandana to honour and respect the teaching fraternity on the birthday of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, India's former president. Amidst the chanting of shlokas students received blessings with the traditional mantrakshata from teachers on the occasion.
Dr Ganesh S Pai, a former professor at KMC and K S Hegde Medical College and a renowned consultant dermatologist was the chief guest. He along with the dignitaries offered floral tributes to Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Later, Dr Pai addressed the gathering with a wonderful presentation ‘Hamster Wheel of Practice’. It provided insightful and inspiring tips to the students sharing his wisdom and experience on how to become successful doctors.









Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions presided over the function and felicitated Dr Pai for being a veteran teacher. He emphasized importance of teachers in our life and also acknowledged the hard work of teachers in the success of Expert. He urged students to make their lives meaningful and to become an asset to the nation through hard work and being focused.
Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson Expert Group of Institutions, delivered the keynote address and highlighted the struggle and sacrifices of teachers and insisted students to be ever grateful to their teachers.
Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal of the college addressed the gathering with his insightful thoughts.
Teachers were honored with gifts. Jasmine Prathibha from the department of English and Arjuna N N faculty in chemistry shared their experiences as teachers.
The event featured cultural activities by students. Ankush N Nayak, IT director; Ustaad Rafique Khan, trustee; Dhruthi V Hegde, vice principal (Admin); Gurudat N, coaching head; Shyamaprasad, AICE co-ordinator; Balakrishna Shetty, member of academic committee and Dr Girish T N programme director were present on the occasion.
Mohammad Ameen, president, Student Parliament and vice president Ujwal Shivanand Boodihal welcomed the dignitaries. Secretaries of Student Parliament H K Bhavyatha Ponnappa and Bhavish Benaka K S proposed vote of thanks.
Students Sumukh, Tejaswini, Avani Patil and Mohammad Saad hosted the programme.
