Ex-employee held in Noida for Rs 10 cr fake invoice, GST fraud

Noida, Sep 7: Cyber Police in Noida have arrested a former private firm employee for allegedly generating fake invoices worth around Rs 10 cr to fraudulently claim input tax credit of Rs 1.8 crore.

The accused, identified as Abhinav Tyagi, originally from Moradabad and presently residing in the Bisrakh area of Greater Noida, was nabbed on Saturday, officials said.

According to Additional DCP (Central Noida) Shavya Goyal, Tyagi worked in the accounts section of the company where he handled GST filings and tax returns. During this period, he colluded with an accomplice and created fake invoices to carry out the fraud.

Police have seized four mobile phones, eight SIM cards, a laptop, a car, GST-related documents, and a rent agreement from his possession. An FIR has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.

Tyagi was produced before a court and sent to jail. Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest his accomplice.
