Mangaluru, Sep 7: “A gifted teacher is not only prepared to meet the needs of today’s child but is also prepared to foresee the hopes and dreams in every child’s future.”– Robert John Meehan.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first president of our Independent nation. It is a special occasion dedicated to appreciate and honour the invaluable role of teachers in shaping the lives of students and building the future of society.

At St Aloysius Pre-University College, the celebration reflected the Jesuit spirit of education, focusing on the holistic growth of students. Teachers continually instill in them the values of faith, justice, compassion, and service, inspiring students to grow as responsible and socially conscious individuals. The day reaffirmed the Jesuit vision of education for transformation and the importance of respecting and honoring teachers.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the principal, Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ delivered an inspiring message highlighting the invaluable role of teachers in shaping the lives of students. He emphasised that teachers are truly a gift to society, as they not only impart knowledge but also show immense love, concern, and care towards their students.

He acknowledged the compassion with which teachers guide, support, and nurture the young minds entrusted to them. The principal further expressed gratitude to the teachers and the support staff for their dedication and commitment.

The celebration was made memorable as the student council members; parent teachers executive committee and the support staff organised a short programme to honour the dedication and the hard work of teachers. Students expressed their appreciation by presenting greeting cards and bookmarks to the teachers. These cards, lovingly prepared by students, carried heartfelt messages and creative expressions of gratitude, making the teachers feel special and cherished on their day.
