The day began with a solemn Holy Mass in the school chapel, offered by Fr Ivan D’Souza OCD. In his homily, Fr Ivan beautifully highlighted the noble vocation of teaching, reminding everyone that a teacher is not merely a giver of knowledge but also a role model who shapes the character and future of each student. His inspiring words set a sacred and reflective tone for the celebrations.

The formal school programme commenced with a warm welcome by the masters of ceremony, who underlined the significance of the occasion and paid tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the great philosopher and statesman whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day. Teachers were ushered into the auditorium with a melodious musical welcome, their presence greeted with smiles and rhythmic steps that filled the atmosphere with cheer. Among the dignitaries present were principal Sr Pramila D’Souza AC, administrator Sr Julie Ann, vice principal Sr Anitha D’Souza AC, and coordinators Roopa and Disha, whose presence added grace and warmth to the occasion.

A solemn prayer service followed, seeking divine blessings for teachers and setting a mood of reverence. This was succeeded by a floral tribute before the portrait of Dr Radhakrishnan, offered by the principal, administrator, vice principal, and coordinators, honoring his legacy as an inspiring teacher. A thoughtful speech was then delivered, reflecting on the invaluable contributions of teachers and the deeper meaning of the day.

Students presented a vibrant cultural programme, which included a graceful traditional dance, energetic group performances, entertaining advertisements, and a value-based skit reminding everyone of the importance of respecting and loving one’s teachers. A melodious wishing song further expressed students’ affection and gratitude for their mentors.

The celebration was enriched with fun-filled spot games exclusively for teachers, who participated with enthusiasm, filling the hall with joy and laughter. A prize distribution ceremony followed, after which students presented thoughtful gifts as tokens of love and appreciation. Adding a personal touch, two teachers shared their cherished memories and experiences at Carmel School, which deeply touched the audience.

The highlight of the morning session was the inspiring message by principal Sr Pramila D’Souza AC, who reminded students that true respect for teachers lies in listening attentively to their guidance, valuing their lessons, and striving daily to become better individuals. The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Kalpana of grade 10, followed by a group photograph capturing the joyful spirit of the day.

The celebrations continued in the afternoon when the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) organized a special Teachers’ Day programme. The event was graced by esteemed guests – Sr Juliana Mary AC, joint secretary, principal Sr Pramila, administrator Sr Julie Ann, and vice principal Sr Anitha. The programme began with a prayer service invoking blessings for all teachers and sisters, followed by a lively cultural presentation. Parents expressed their gratitude through dances and melodious songs, while teachers actively participated in spot games and a group game arranged by the PTA, creating an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.

A parent shared the significance of Teachers’ Day, highlighting the role of teachers in shaping not only the academic but also the moral foundation of children’s lives. Another parent shared her loving 13-year bond with the school, recalling how Carmel School has stood as a second home for students, nurturing them with care, values, and quality education. Her heartfelt words reflected the deep trust and admiration that parents hold for the institution. Tokens of love and appreciation were then presented by the PTA to all teachers and sisters as a gesture of heartfelt gratitude. The afternoon programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the PTA members, guests, and participants who made the event a memorable one.
