Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 7: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated the feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary and the festival of nature with deep faith and festive joy on September 6, hosted by the students of grade III B and C.

The programme commenced with a solemn prayer, followed by a graceful welcome dance. A cordial welcome was extended to the dignitaries by Krizzele, Bibi Mariam and Kezia, accompanied by a symbolic welcome of nature’s bounties, namely, plants of paddy, sugarcane, saffron and ginger. The students thoughtfully highlighted the significance of various festivals, after which a moving skit depicting the Nativity of Mother Mary was staged. The celebration came alive with vibrant dances portraying Onam, Eid and other nature festivals, and a soulful harvest song was rendered as a heartfelt tribute to farmers. A powerful dance on girl-child empowerment conveyed a strong message of hope for a brighter tomorrow.

The chief guest, Dr John Edward D’Silva, chief administrative officer of St Joseph Engineering College, commended the students for their discipline and creativity and the teachers for their dedication. In his address, he urged the students to cultivate a spirit of excellence and to dream big. He also reminded everyone to cherish the reflection of God’s love revealed through the beauty of creation.

The administrator, Sr Carissima, inspired the students to express gratitude to God by caring for and safeguarding nature. She further encouraged them to appreciate the selfless guidance of their mentors.

The programme flowed seamlessly under the cheerful compering of Krisha, Noah, Hridaan, and Rianna. The celebration concluded on a note of gratitude with the vote of thanks proposed by Sharvi and Anika.

In preparation for this solemn feast, the Catholic students and staff had devoutly participated in the novena prayers and the Holy Mass, thus deepening the spiritual fervour of the occasion.
