Faridabad, Sep 8: Three members of a family and their pet dog lost their lives after the compressor of an air conditioner exploded at their residence in Haryana’s Faridabad in the early hours of Monday.

The victims have been identified as Sachin Kapoor, his wife Rinku Kapoor, and their daughter Sujan Kapoor.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am on the first floor of the four-storey building. The house on that floor was vacant, but the blast triggered thick smoke that quickly spread to the second floor, where the Kapoor family was asleep.

While the victims died of suffocation, their son, who was sleeping in another room, managed to escape by jumping out of a window. He sustained serious injuries and is reported to be in critical condition.

Neighbours said they were jolted awake by the loud explosion. “We rushed to rescue others in the building,” said Mayank, a resident.

According to locals, a family of seven resides on the fourth floor, while the third floor served as Kapoor’s office.
