Mangaluru, Sep 9: The Young Catholic Students (YCS) Movement of Angelore celebrated Teachers’ Day on Sunday, September 7. The celebration of Holy Eucharist at Guardian Angel Church kick-started the day. The teachers of the parish led the liturgy. Fr Fredrick Monteiro, parish priest, celebrated the Holy Mass. A cultural event followed the Holy Eucharist at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall.
The members of YCS warmly welcomed the teachers with roses. Doreen Pinto, chief guest, shared her experience as teacher and threw light on how the teaching profession has changed keeping pace with the changing times. She also highlighted how the societal changes have made them more compassionate than ever before.
In his presidential address, Fr Fredrick Monteiro lauded the missionary zeal of the teachers. He told the teachers never to retire, despite retiring from the profession. "They should continue their vocation by actively participating in the social welfare activities, both inside and outside the Church," he said.

The members of YCS sang a greeting song in honour of the teachers. They entertained the gathering with an enthralling dance. Macleen and Reeva conducted lively games. To commemorate the day, all teachers were presented with a memento.
