New Delhi, Sep 10: Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, in his first statement after stepping down from office, extended warm greetings to his successor CP Radhakrishnan, expressing confidence that the high office will reach greater heights under his leadership.
Radhakrishnan, the NDA nominee, emerged victorious in the vice-presidential election held on Tuesday by securing 452 votes, while Opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy garnered 300 votes.

In a congratulatory letter, Dhankhar remarked, “Your elevation to this august office reflects the trust and confidence reposed in you by the representatives of our nation. With your vast experience in public life, the office will certainly attain greater veneration and glory.”
Dhankhar had stepped down from the post on July 21, citing health issues. His sudden resignation necessitated fresh polls, which paved the way for Radhakrishnan’s election as the new Vice President of India.
