UP Masihi Sangthan Condemns Kerala CPI(M) Ad

Lucknow, Feb 7: The UP Masihi Sangthan has demanded action against Communist Party of India (Marxist) for publishing an advertisement in Kerala which has hurt the religious sentiments of Christians in the country.

In a meeting of the UP Masihi Sangthan (UPMH) held at Bishop House in Cathedral, the relgious leaders of the Christian community condemned the advertisement  published by CPI (M) in Kerala. Secretary, UPMH Rakesh Chattri stated that in the advertisement the painting of Leanardo Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' was distorted with an objectionable caption.

"This has hurt the religious sentiments of Christian community. We are a peace loving community but we cannot accept such acts. We will be soon meeting state governor for our demands and even approach Prime Minister (PM) and Home Minister for taking action against those behind such act," said Chattri.

Chattri also demanded arresting of those behind the advertisement. The meeting was attended by Bishop Anthony, Father Ignatius, former MLA Peter Fanthome, Dr David Charles, Bani and several others. The UPMH has convened a meeting of the community at Christ Church College on February 15 to take up the matter.
