Mangaluru, Sep 11: Tension flared near Kottara Chowki on National Highway 66 after a scooter mishap at Kulur claimed the life of a woman, leading to a heated clash between local residents and highway contractors engaged in pothole repair.

On Tuesday morning, Madhavi, a scooter rider, tragically lost her life after falling into a pothole near the Kulur flyover. Following the incident, the National Highway Authority immediately directed contractors to fill potholes in the Kottara Chowki stretch.

However, angry locals, grieving over the woman’s death, confronted the contractors and held them accountable for negligence. The verbal argument soon escalated into physical confrontation, resulting in a scuffle between both sides.

Videos of the clash quickly went viral on social media, sparking further outrage over the condition of the national highway.

Kavoor police rushed to the spot, intervened, and brought both parties to the station for inquiry. An NCR (Non-Cognizable Report) has been registered in connection with the incident.
