Dr MV Shetty College successfully celebrates World Physiotherapy Day

Mangaluru, Sep 11: Dr MV Shetty College of Physiotherapy successfully celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on of September 8 at the College auditorium with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, faculty, and staff. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of physiotherapy in promoting health, fitness, and overall well-being.

The day commenced with a special fitness challenge named '40+ Fitness Challenge' which was organized to encourage participants, especially those above the age of 40, to engage in simple yet effective exercises. The challenge witnessed enthusiastic participation and served as a reminder of the importance of regular physical activity in maintaining health and vitality. In this event, Nagaveni secured the first place, while Prafula earned the second place, both demonstrating remarkable dedication and effort.

Students demonstrated their creativity and knowledge through a combined e-poster and elocution competition on the topic 'Healthy Ageing'. This competition served as a platform for them to share their ideas, improve their communication skills, and spread awareness about the topic. The first place was won by Aishwarya and Vamshi from III BPT and second place was won by Rohan Gajendra Edke and Mohammad Chaman Alam from I BPT.

In addition, interactive spot games were organized, bringing a lively and entertaining aspect to the event. These games encouraged participation and promoted physical activity in a fun way. The winners of this segment were Sreehari K and Prekshitha JS.

The celebration concluded with a formal programme graced by chief guest Prof Muhammad Suhail, IAP executive member & RGUHS academic council member, Dr L Gladson Jose, principal, Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy, Dr Vaishali RGUHS senate member, and Dr Amin Divya Padmanabha, the organising secretary.

Dr L Gladson Jose warmly welcomed the gathering with his inspiring words, followed by an address from the chief guest, Prof Muhammad Suhail, who emphasized the vital role of physiotherapy in enhancing quality of life and encouraged participants to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Dr Vaishali delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organizing committee, participants, and faculty members for their contributions.

The chairperson Prof Dr Hima Urmila Shetty & managing trustee Dr Divyanjali Shetty of Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust, director academics Dr Suma S Rai, and Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, chairman, Karnataka State Allied & Healthcare Council conveyed their best wishes and commended the organizing team for making the event a grand success.
