Mohali, Sep 11: In a tragic incident, 45-year-old businessman Rajdeep Singh shot himself in the head at an HDFC Bank branch in Mohali, Punjab. Rajdeep, who ran an immigration business and was reportedly in debt, had recorded a video before his death alleging harassment by a senior police officer who invested in his firm.

Rajdeep, originally from Moga and living in a rented house in Sector 80, Mohali, accused Assistant Inspector General Gurjot Singh Kaler and Assistant Sub-Inspector Rishi Rana of coercion and intimidation in a note left behind. According to his father Paramjeet Singh, Rishi Rana and an associate took Rajdeep to Kaler’s residence, humiliated him, recorded a video, and forced him to approve a loan at HDFC Bank.

Before taking his life in the bank toilet, Rajdeep recorded a video saying, “I have never done anything wrong. Where will I get it from? You have troubled me a lot. I will commit suicide. Okay, bye.” He also texted his wife Chhavi, informing her about a note he had left at a local dairy, which she later found.

The FIR names five accused, including Kaler, Rana, chartered accountant Sunil Agarwal, caterer Rinku Krishna, and Ferozepur resident Saina Arora. Rajdeep’s note stated that his business partners Rinku and Saina owed him Rs 40 lakh and had not returned the money. Authorities have registered cases of conspiracy and abetment to suicide, and investigations are ongoing.
