Amritsar, Sep 11: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recovered three hand grenades and a .30 bore pistol in the Thakurdwara Sanatan temple grenade attack case, exposing a transnational terror conspiracy backed by an arms and explosives syndicate.

Following disclosures by accused Sharanjeet Kumar alias Sunny, the grenades were seized from Village Bhamri in Batala, Punjab, while the pistol was traced to foreign-based handlers who allegedly supplied the weapons to disturb Punjab’s peace, the NIA said. The arms and explosives have been sent for forensic and technical examination.

Sharanjeet, arrested from Gaya, Bihar, was found to be a key link in the March 2025 grenade attack, carried out by bike-borne assailants Gursidak Singh and Vishal Gill. Investigators said he received four grenades on March 1, handing one to the attackers two days before the strike.

Preliminary findings point to handlers operating from Europe, the USA and Canada, who provided funds, logistics and target details to their operatives in India. The NIA said further investigation into the cross-border terror network is underway.
