Bankura, Sep 13: A 60-year-old woman narrowly escaped a major accident at Bankura railway station on September 12 when she slipped while attempting to board the moving 12883 Santragachi-Purulia Rupasi Bangla Express.
The passenger, identified as Sabani Sinha from Purulia, fell into the gap between the train and platform number 2. RPF officers ASI Manish Kumar and Constable Gayatri Biswas rushed to her aid and pulled her to safety, preventing a potentially fatal mishap. The rescue was captured on the station’s CCTV cameras.

Bankura RPF Station In-Charge Tapan Kumar Ray lauded the officers’ swift action, saying, “A major accident could have happened had there been any delay.” After confirming her details, the woman was allowed to continue her journey.
Officials noted this incident echoed a similar past event at the station when an RPF officer saved an elderly woman and her son attempting to board a moving train. Railway authorities urged passengers to exercise caution while boarding trains and appreciated the RPF’s timely intervention.
