Warsaw, Feb 8 (IANS): Four stadiums and several motorway stretches in Poland have been completed for the Euro 2012 football championship in June-July.
The completion of the stadium were mentioned in sport minister's report Tuesday on preparations for the tournament, to be co-hosted by Ukraine and Poland.
The report covers the latter half of 2011 and plans for the first half of the current year. It noted that till date Euro preparations embraced 219 infrastructure upgrade projects worth a total $34 billion, including 83 of key importance for the tournament, Xinhua reported.
The report authors stress that the main task this year will be compiling operational plans for the tournament's management.
The plans are to be ready by May 15. Also planned are railway timetable changes, the installation of new traffic signs in hosting cities and the compilation of a special inland transport scheme.
Euro 2012, to take place from June 8 to July 1, 2012, will be co-hosted by the two countries' eight cities. The matches will be played in Poland's Warsaw, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk and Ukraine's Kiev, Lvov, Kharkov and Donetsk.
