Bengaluru, Sep 14: A heart-wrenching family tragedy unfolded in Gonakanahalli village, Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, where a man and his two children were found dead while the wife survived and is now in police custody.

Police identified the deceased as Shivu (32), his 11-year-old daughter Chandrakala, and 7-year-old son Uday Surya. According to investigators, Shivu and his wife Manjula had frequent marital disputes, financial distress, and had reportedly been contemplating suicide together.

On Saturday afternoon, the couple allegedly consumed alcohol before killing their children—first strangling them and then submerging their heads in water to ensure death. Shivu later ended his life by hanging.

Manjula, who initially attempted suicide, stepped out to call her father from a neighbour’s house after failing to access her husband’s locked phone. The neighbour, shocked by her account, alerted locals and police.

Manjula has been taken into custody and is being interrogated as investigations continue, officials confirmed.
