Visakhapatnam, Sep 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the world’s largest political party with 14 crore members, including two crore active members, said BJP National President J.P. Nadda on Sunday.

Addressing a public meeting marking the culmination of the Saradhyam yatra led by Andhra Pradesh BJP unit president P.V.N. Madhav, Nadda highlighted the party’s strong presence across India.

“With 240 Lok Sabha MPs, around 1,500 MLAs, and more than 170 MLCs, the BJP is the largest representative party in the country,” Nadda said. He noted that the BJP heads governments in 13 states, and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) governs in 20 states.

Nadda urged BJP workers to take pride in shaping India’s future, steering the nation towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) guided by the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Efforts by all).

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11 years of leadership for India’s progress across sectors, contrasting the current "politics of performance and accountability" with previous governments’ “corruption, family-centric politics, and non-performance.”

Highlighting the BJP’s ideological foundation, Nadda cited the party’s achievements such as the abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Ram temple, repeal of triple talaq, and amendment of the Waqf Board Act.

He proudly stated that when the NDA came to power in 2014, India was the world’s 11th largest economy, which has since risen to fourth and is poised to become the third-largest soon. He mentioned the IMF’s recent description of the Indian economy as a "bright spot."

Discussing reforms, Nadda referenced the GST 2.0 changes that reduced GST slabs, calling it a Diwali and Dussehra gift from the Modi government.

Claiming robust growth in sectors such as the economy, defense, exports, and manufacturing, he said India has emerged as the "world’s pharmacy."

On Andhra Pradesh, Nadda criticized the previous YSR Congress Party government for corruption and lack of governance, thanking people for supporting the NDA government under Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

He detailed development initiatives, including a Rs 15,000 crore fund for Amaravati’s construction, the doubling of national highway lengths, and Rs 3,500 crore allocated under the AMRUT urban development scheme. Kakinada, Tirupati, and Amaravati are being developed as smart cities.

Nadda also announced the development of 14 ports in Andhra Pradesh, with Rs 625 crore allocated for Bhogapuram Port, and the creation of the South Coastal Railway Zone to further boost connectivity and growth in the state.
