Britain Billawa Balaga UK hosts inaugural function with enthusiasm in Coventry

UK, Sep 16: Britain Billawa Balaga UK’s inaugural function was held on Saturday, September 13 in Coventry Holiday Inn express hotel under the leadership of Dr PK Manoj Poojary, elected president of the association. Lighting the lamp was done by Guru Charity Trustees and Mangalore Malawi Association members represented by Sandesh Vivekanand. Cultural programme included Yakshagana performances, Dennana dance and Tulu songs. Vinod Pademar coordinated and moderated the programme. Leena Kotian, secretary of the association highlighted the associations upcoming programmes for the years ahead. Dheeraj Anchan who is our treasurer spoke about the various community associations and also the charity aspects of the Balaga.

Manjunath Poojary is highly appreciated for his IT support for the organisation. Vote of thanks was given by Prasanna Suvarna. President Dr Manoj has thanked various Billawa associations for their best wishes for the occasion. He also mentioned that we are now a strong association with over 150 families who have settled in UK in various parts of the country and have announced the next annual event on the of September 12, 2026.

Dr PK Manoj Poojary in his presidential speech said it is a very unique day for Britain Billawas since this is the first time in western world more than 120 Billawas attended the annual event which was well appreciated. He explained the support he has received from his committee members, best wishes from presidents from Billawa group all over the world. He explained our members included highly skilled professionals from associate medical director, doctors, aeronautical engineers, dentists, IT managers to celebrity chef. He also explained the inception of the community from 2016 and with 25 members and now increased to 150 families. He thanked the senior members who initiated The Guru Charity from UK which has given scholarships to hundreds of students back home.

Cultural programme included Yakshagana, Tulu denna dance, Tulu songs, violin and guitar performance, kids kotichannaya skit.
