Karkala, Sep 17: Manjunath Pai Memorial Government First Grade College, organized the ‘Inspiring 100 Lecture Series – Session 71’ on September 16 to commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Abbakka of Ullal. The event was jointly conducted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Lalitha Kala Sangha, Department of History, and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units, in collaboration with the Karnataka Government College Teachers’ Association (R), Mangaluru division.
The programme was presided over by Dr Suresh Rai K, principal, Government First Grade College, Karkala. The event was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Dr Surendra Shetty, professor, NMAMIT Nitte, and president of the Karnataka Government College Teachers’ Association, Udupi District. Renowned speaker and retired headmaster Muniraj Renjal participated as the resource person and delivered a lecture on the life and achievements of Rani Abbakka highlighting her courage, leadership, and contribution to the fight against colonial powers.







The event was graced by Vinay M S, IQAC coordinator, and Sowmya H K, coordinator of Lalitha Kala Sangha. While the programme was hosted by Renuka H G, head of the Department of Kannada, Bhagyalakshmi, head of the Department of Political Science, delivered the welcome address. The invocation was presented by lecturer Sham, while Jayalakshmi, assistant professor of Economics, proposed a vote of thanks.
Teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and students of the college were present at the programme.
