Mangaluru, Sep 17: Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Sathish Kumpala has urged the state government to postpone the upcoming caste census scheduled to begin on September 22, citing the government’s lack of preparedness and the public’s unawareness about the survey.

Addressing a press meet in Mangaluru on Wednesday, September 17, Kumpala said, “The state government is rushing into the caste census without proper planning. Teachers and ASHA workers are being asked to carry out the survey during Dasara festival holidays, which is completely inappropriate. Moreover, the public has not been adequately informed, leading to widespread confusion.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath also expressed concerns, alleging that chief minister Siddaramaiah has a hidden agenda behind the caste census, adding to the uncertainty surrounding it.
