New Delhi, Sep 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of birthday wishes from citizens across India and leaders around the world, calling the affection “a source of great strength” as he turned 75.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister said he was “truly overwhelmed” by the warm messages, blessings, and prayers that flooded in both from within the country and abroad.

“This affection strengthens and inspires me,” PM Modi wrote. “The innumerable wishes and the faith you have reposed in me are a source of great strength — not just for me but for the collective mission we’re undertaking to build a better India.”

Acknowledging that he couldn’t reply to each message personally, Modi said the love and goodwill had “touched his heart deeply”, and he offered prayers for the good health and well-being of all.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the spirit of service reflected in the nationwide initiatives conducted to mark his birthday, saying they demonstrate the “inherent goodness of the people of India.”

Across the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed the day through ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ — a fortnight-long service campaign. Welfare activities included blood donation camps, health check-ups, distribution of food and assistive devices, cleanliness drives, and tree plantation programs.

Special prayers and rituals were held in religious places of all faiths — from temples and gurudwaras to mosques and churches — as supporters and well-wishers marked the occasion with reverence and celebration.

Internationally, a host of global leaders extended their birthday greetings, including:

• Russian President Vladimir Putin
• US President Donald Trump
• Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
• UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed
• Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
• EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
• Australian PM Anthony Albanese
• New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon
• Dominican PM Roosevelt Skerrit
• Bhutanese PM Tshering Tobgay
• Guyana President Dr Irfaan Ali

The Prime Minister’s message closed with a note of hope and positivity, underlining his commitment to continuing the journey toward a stronger, more developed India.
