Tehran, Sep 18: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that growing cooperation between sovereign nations like Iran and Russia reflects a significant global shift away from unipolar dominance. During a high-level meeting in Tehran with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, Pezeshkian underlined that nations no longer need to depend on unilateral global powers to achieve progress.

Pezeshkian welcomed the strengthening ties between Tehran and Moscow, expressing confidence in the momentum of their collaborative efforts. He called for the swift execution of existing agreements, particularly in key sectors such as transportation, energy, and power generation.

According to a report by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the President noted the shared commitment of both countries to turn expert discussions into concrete outcomes. He urged technical teams and ministers from both sides to intensify their work to ensure these objectives are met.

Highlighting the significance of sustained diplomacy, Pezeshkian voiced hope that ongoing dialogue would lead to deeper, more strategic relations between the two nations. He also asked Minister Tsivilev to extend his cordial greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In response, Tsivilev conveyed President Putin’s regards and provided updates on his discussions with Iranian officials, focusing on the practical steps needed to implement bilateral economic agreements. He reaffirmed Russia’s full commitment to these deals, declaring that no external pressure, sanctions, or geopolitical obstacles would derail the countries' joint economic path.

This meeting follows an earlier encounter between Presidents Putin and Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin, China.

Echoing the strategic tone of the alliance, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared a statement on social platform X, quoting President Putin as saying: “I want to especially highlight the friendly nature of our relations and the truly special character of the multifaceted ties between Russia and Iran.”
