Assam rifles truck ambushed in Imphal, two personnel injured

Imphal, Sep 19: A truck of the Assam Rifles was ambushed by unidentified gunmen on the outskirts of Imphal this evening, leaving two personnel injured. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The attack occurred in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area, approximately 8 km from Imphal airport, as the 407 Tata vehicle was travelling from Imphal to Bishnupur. Visuals from the scene showed one official with severe injuries and a significant police presence.

The ambush site lies between Imphal and Churachandpur, highlighting the continuing security challenges in the region.

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla condemned the incident, expressing prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel. He added that such acts of violence would not be tolerated and assured that they would be met with the strongest measures to maintain peace and stability in the state.
