Mangaluru, Sep 20: The Ethnic Day and Onam celebration, organised by St Agnes PU College, was a vibrant and joyous occasion, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of our college community. The event was held on September 20 in the college auditorium and was preceded by a lively flash mob and the unveiling of the banner ‘Melange’ on September 16.

On the day of the celebration, students displayed a beautiful Pokalam (floral carpet) in the college lobby, adding traditional Onam charm and festive color to the ambience.

The programme began with a soulful prayer song in Malayalam, setting a reverent tone for the celebration. This was followed by captivating performances of Bihu and Odissi dance, highlighting the artistic richness of India’s heritage.

A stunning ramp walk showcased students’ ethnic attire and flair, adding a touch of glamour to the event. The energetic boys’ dance performance and Nasik band performance enthralled the audience, while a spellbinding Qawali further elevated the festive spirit, leaving the audience in awe.

The celebrations continued with the graceful Onam dance, reflecting Kerala’s harvest festival and the vibrant Rajasthani dance, capturing the colorful traditions of the desert state.

The event organizers were Hariet Moras, lecturer in commerce & Fiona Veigas, lecturer in chemistry, the same was anchored by Azmi and Joel, who kept the audience engaged with enthusiasm and charm. A heartfelt vote of thanks by Angel expressed gratitude to the organisers, participants, and attendees for making the programme a grand success.

The Melange celebration 2025 was truly a resounding success, promoting cultural exchange and appreciation among students. It stood as a proud testimony to St Agnes PU College’s commitment to fostering diversity, inclusivity, and unity in diversity.
