Mangaluru, Sept 24: The Institute of Allied Health Sciences (IAHS), Srinivas University, conducted an engaging and informative webinar on the topic “LA Strain Imaging and Diastolic Function Assessment” on September 24.

The event was organised by the Department of Cardiovascular Technology and Cardiac Care Technology, and aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of advanced echocardiographic techniques used in cardiac diagnostics.

The session was held under the guidance of Prof Pavana Krishnamoorthy, Dean of IAHS, and coordinated by Asmitha G Nayak, along with the support of faculty members Anusha, Unnathi Prabhu, Muhammed Shafid C S, Ciya Sabu, and Abhishek K Shetty.

The keynote speaker, Hanana Fousiya, senior cardiac sonographer at Little Flower Hospital and Research Centre, Angamaly, delivered an in-depth presentation on the assessment of diastolic function and the applications of Left Atrial (LA) strain imaging, a cutting-edge modality in echocardiography. The session highlighted recent developments in cardiovascular imaging and their clinical applications, offering valuable insights to both students and practitioners.

The programme began with a welcome address by Muhammed Shafid C S, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Abhishek K Shetty.

Participants from various academic levels engaged actively in the session, which was praised for its relevance and clarity. The webinar met its core objectives—educating students about advanced cardiac imaging techniques, fostering academic exchange, and equipping future healthcare professionals with crucial diagnostic knowledge.

This initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially:
• SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, by promoting healthcare education and workforce development; and
• SDG 4 – Quality Education, by offering inclusive, skill-based learning opportunities.
