New Delhi, Sep 25: In a daring daylight heist on Wednesday, bike-borne assailants allegedly robbed jewellery worth around Rs 1 crore from a man riding a scooter near Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, police said.

The incident occurred in the afternoon near Bhairon Mandir when Shivam Kumar Yadav (28) and his associate Raghav (55) were transporting a jewellery consignment from Chandni Chowk. According to the complainant, two men on a motorcycle intercepted them at gunpoint and fled with a bag containing about 500 grams of gold and another carrying 35 kilograms of silver.

The victims were unable to note the complete registration number of the motorcycle, a senior police officer said. A team from Tilak Marg police station rushed to the scene and examined CCTV footage from the area to trace the route of the culprits and identify them.

“The matter is under investigation, and raids are underway to nab the robbers. The jewellery store owner has been called in to confirm the total value of the stolen items,” the officer added.
