Udupi, Sep 26: Adani Power Limited – Udupi Thermal Power Plant, operated by the Adani Group in Yellur village of Kaup taluk, Udupi district, through its CSR arm Adani Foundation, has distributed school kits worth Rs 40 lacs to 7,000 students studying in 85 government and government-aided Kannada Medium Schools across Kaup taluk.
This initiative is a continuation of Adani Foundation’s long-standing commitment to strengthening rural education, with a focus on Kannada medium government schools, where most children come from financially weaker families. By ensuring that every child has access to basic learning materials like notebooks, school bags, geometry boxes, and umbrellas, the Foundation is helping remove barriers that often discourage parents from sending their children to school.
Speaking at the programme, Kishore Alva, executive director & president, Adani Group, said, “Government Kannada medium schools are the backbone of rural education in Karnataka. Many children from marginalized communities rely on them to pursue their dreams. By providing quality school kits every year, we are not just giving them academic materials, we are giving them confidence, dignity, and encouragement to stay in school. Over the past decade, this initiative has helped reduce dropouts and motivated thousands of students to continue their education”.

He added that Adani Foundation dedicates nearly 20% of its CSR budget exclusively to educational programmes, ranging from school kit distribution to scholarships, infrastructure support, and special assistance for meritorious students from underprivileged families.
The school management committees welcomed the initiative and observed that the availability of learning resources is particularly significant for Kannada medium government schools, where many students struggle due to financial constraints. They lauded Adani Foundation for setting a benchmark in CSR, supporting not just education but also healthcare, afforestation, rural sports, and infrastructure development for over a decade in the region.
The school kits, though simple, have a transformative impact, they provide children with the essential tools of learning, ease the financial burden on parents, and strengthen the role of Kannada medium schools in preserving the local language and culture while ensuring access to quality education.
Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of Adani Group, works across India in the areas of education, healthcare, sustainable livelihood, skill development, and community infrastructure.
