Mangaluru: St Aloysius Deemed to be University organizes thought-provoking workshop on AI

Mangaluru, Sep 27: The School of Engineering, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Eka Care, organized a thought-provoking workshop on ‘AI in Healthcare – Beyond the Buzz into the Future.’ The event brought together medical professionals, practicing engineers, and students, creating a unique platform for interdisciplinary learning with over 220 participants.

The workshop was presided over by Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), who, in his presidential address, emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and the promising career opportunities it presents in today’s market. The formal function also witnessed the presence of Dr S Ruban, dean of the School of Engineering, along with the event coordinators Ashwija and Priya George.

Eminent speakers enriched the session with their expertise. Dr Sankalp Gulati, co-founder of Music Muni Labs and head of Data Science at Eka Care, elaborated on Tokenization, the superpowers of Large Language Models (LLMs), their development cycle, and the latest advancements in GPTs. Dr Sanjana, MBBS, MD in Community Medicine, and specialist in Diabetology, spoke on the AI Stack for Modern Healthcare, offering insights into real-world clinical applications.

The workshop also showcased Eka Care’s innovative DocAssist tool, demonstrating AI-driven clinical support. The engaging discussions highlighted not only the immense potential of AI in revolutionizing healthcare but also the ethical responsibilities and challenges involved in its safe and effective deployment.

The programme, which began with a prayer and a warm welcome to the dignitaries, concluded with rich takeaways for participants across disciplines, reaffirming the University’s commitment to fostering innovation and future-ready education.
