Mangaluru, Sep 28: The St Vincent De Paul Society, Omzoor, observed the feast of their Patron with solemnity and joy on September 28, marking a day of spiritual renewal and communal fellowship. The celebration, held in the spirit of service and gratitude, brought together parishioners, local dignitaries, and well-wishers to honour the legacy and charitable mission of St Vincent De Paul.

The day began with a Holy Mass, celebrated at the church by Fr Roopesh Madtha, editor of Raknno. Fr Madtha, renowned for his pastoral guidance and editorial leadership, led the congregation in prayer and thanksgiving, invoking the blessings of St Vincent De Paul upon all present and the works of the Society. The Mass set a reverent tone for the day, emphasising faith, compassion, and service.

Following the Mass, a get-together was organised at the Church Hall, presided over by Fr Roopesh Madtha. The gathering provided an opportunity for members and guests to connect, share experiences, and reaffirm their commitment to the Society’s charitable initiatives. The atmosphere was cordial and appreciative, reflecting the unity of purpose among attendees.

The formal proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Alwyn Saldanha, president of the St Vincent De Paul Society, who greeted all attendees and expressed gratitude for their continued support. Arthur D’Souza, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council, delivered a thoughtful address, highlighting the role of the Society in uplifting the community and fostering social responsibility. The occasion was further graced by Daffny Lewis, secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, whose presence underscored the collaborative spirit between the Council and the Society.

Delphine Lobo, secretary of SVP, presented the Annual Report, outlining the activities, achievements, and future goals of the Society. Her comprehensive presentation reflected the dedication and impact of SVP’s work over the past year. James Lewis, treasurer of SVP, also spoke, providing insights into the financial stewardship and resource mobilisation that underpin the Society’s outreach programmes.

A special segment was dedicated to honouring the donors whose generosity empowers the mission of the Society. Fr Roopesh Madtha felicitated the donors, acknowledging their vital contributions and encouraging continued support for charitable endeavours. In his address, Fr Madtha expressed deep appreciation for the noble service rendered by SVP, emphasising the transformative power of compassion and collective action.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Cynthia Lobo, who acknowledged the efforts of organisers, participants, clergy, and supporters. The event stood as a testament to the enduring values of St Vincent De Paul and the commitment of the Omzoor parish community to service and solidarity.
